African Independent Television (AIT) has suddenly removed a popular online poll where the All Progressives

 Congress party candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, was resoundingly beating President Goodluck Jonathan.

Buhari’s lead in the poll was despite the president’s shelling out of N5 million per daily showing of his sponsored

 documentary against Buhari that was being repeatedly shown on AIT stations across Nigeria, and online.

Boko Haram ‘Bomb Maker’ Arrested In Yobe

A man suspected of being behind the manufacture of explosives used in a series of Boko Haram suicide attacks in Nigeria has been arrested in northeast Nigeria, a senior police officer has told AFP. 

The man, identified only as Ba’na, was held in the Arikime area of Potiskum, in Yobe State after several weeks of surveillance‎.

Certificate controversy: My critics will remain in court – Buhari

 

Presidential candidate of the APC, Gen Buhari says those who are aggrieved about his certificate and the issues surrounding it should go to court and remain there. He said this while speaking with some journalists after members of the Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM came to show their solidarity in the forthcoming election. He said that INEC said it has received his document and that anyone who has a contrary view to this is free to head to the court

I am aware of the photo's circulating the internet with my husband and Pero Adeniyi. I want to state officially that I was not in that space at that time and therefore there was no confrontation between myself and Pero Adeniyi.

A political group, Defenders Of Democracy (DOD) placed this advert on The Nations Newspaper, saying Jonathan should stop comparing himself with the likes of Barack Obama, Nelson Mandela, Lee Kwan Yew and Marting Luther King, that he belongs to the likes of Idi Amin, Mobutu Sese Seko, Robert Mugabe. and Blaise Compraore.

When will all these end? Why attack each other with expensive newspaper adverts. Our politicians should 
just stop behaving like children.

ISIS executes one of two Japanese hostages after Japan failed to pay $200m ransom

 

Islamic State have reportedly released an audio video announcing the execution of one of the two Japanese hostages who were being held by the extremist group.

The video, which is nearly three minutes long, consists of a still photo of captured Japanese journalist Kenji Goto, holding an alleged photograph showing the beheaded corpse of his fellow hostage, Haruna Yukawa.

Boko Haram Raping Women, Enslaving People in Baga — Escapee

A woman who escaped from Baga, a town in Borno State that recently fell under the control of Islamist terrorists Boko Haram, has told the BBC that the insurgent fighters are indiscriminately raping girls and middle-aged women trapped in the besieged town.

Boko Haram militants overran Baga after sacking a multi-national military base that had the task of defending the town. It is believed that the Islamist fighters may have killed as many as 2000 residents.

In one of the most intimate and chilling accounts of the state of affairs in the captured town, the escaped woman told a BBC Hausa service in Maiduguri, that Boko Haram fighters were engaged in incessant acts of rape. She also disclosed that the violent militants had instituted corporal punishment of residents as well as the enslavement of some of their victims.

The woman revealed that the militants were forcing women to partake in the burial of corpses that littered the 
town in the wake of the onslaught against it. In addition, the Boko Haram fighters were looting abandoned homes and shops in search of food.

“The Boko Haram fighters are controlling Baga, Doron Baga, Mile 3 and Mile 4. They are raping our daughters and punishing our people,” the woman said. She added: “They broke shops and hauled away foodstuff. They are burning houses. They don’t allow women to come out of the houses that are left. And they are forcing women to carry out burials.’’

The escapee also stated that the fighters preach Islamic tenets each morning and evening.
